Long Live the KING

Harley Davidson’s Road King (FLHR), hit the road in 1994. The Road King  has a proud history with roots going all the way back to the first FL model in 1941.

Todays Road King is a highly refined touring machine which evolved from the big frame bikes that hogged the American roads in the 1940s.

I was turned on to the Road King after riding my friend Jacks beloved motorcycle. One day..We traded bikes ..I can still see Jack  … his big body awkwardly trying to look comfortable on my 1200 Sportster.. as I cruised  along…smilin…on his big bike that felt so smooth  ….when I was suddenly stung…by a Bee!! ..I calmly pulled over to rip off my shirt ..and release the motherbugger … but ..

my face..was still smilin

It was time to get a big girl Bike!

After months of scouring ..a 2012 was found online ..at a HD Dealership in Detroit… it was a managers ride, never sold /titled …low mileage ..good price…

I picked up the phone & bought it…site unseen…

Weeks later………

I anxiously waited to SEE it….

.. there it is.. sitting proudly  on the back of a trailer..as my friend Ransom rolled in to kindly deliver it for me.

( Thanks again Buddy..You went above & Beyond ..)

I jumped on it …seconds after the wheels hit the ground…

I was in LOVE

Over the winter the bike was stripped down..parts ordered..painted, bolted, wired ….. the transformation was mainly cosmetic .. as my dream bike vision.. became reality.

Respect & Thanks to Scott Alkins for all his hard word, advice, knowledge & skill …

You made my Road King Dream come true.

I Love my Bike and there has been no looking back…

only to smile at the memories of places I’ve been and the many miles of road

the King & I have Killed
